1pm-3pm Introduction to Birding (1 of 3!)

Audubon Mid-Atlantic staff will introduce you to the wonderful world of birding! Bird watching has been a pastime for centuries. But it can be intimidating to start. "Where do I go to watch birds?" "What equipment do I need?" "What do I look for first?" This series is designed to answer those questions and introduce the world of birding to new audiences, novice birders, or anyone with an interest in the outdoors. We will take a deep-dive into the equipment, techniques, and codes of conduct of birding. This first workshop will concentrate on the equipment needed to bird and finding local groups to bird with as you enter a new hobby! In collaboration with In Color Birding Club.

Please be sure to dress for the weather, as this is a rain or shine event. All equipment will be provided, but if you have a favorite pair of binoculars, scope, or bird guide, feel free to bring them along. This workshop is best for those 12 and above, and those under 14 must be supervised by a responsible adult. This program includes a 1.5 mile walk over predominantly flat, semi-rough terrain and is presented in English.
