About Hope Vine Pathway

Hope Vine Pathway is a composition for connection between sounds and people, concrete and black walnut, water and fowl. Its score is an adaptive melodic/timbre methodology, catalyzing of motorcycles, songbirds, cold breezes, cookouts, red-tailed hawks, and the many joys of the Discovery Center- A freedom rooted in jazz and nature.

Bios:

Aaron Pond is a musician and curator active in the east coast improvised music scene from Philadelphia to Miami. Utilizing Horn, Reeds, and Homemade Flutes, he has developed a voice defined by a kaleidoscopic approach to idiom, multiphonic singing, and rich tones. Pond is known for his work with the Aviary Ensemble of Philadelphia- BORBS! and is the President of People's Music Supply.

Will Fredendall is a flutist, improviser, and composer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While attaining his Bachelor’s of Music degree at the New England Conservatory, he had the opportunity to study with renowned flute soloist Renee Krimsier as well as profound improvisers Joe Morris, Jason Moran, Frank Carlberg, Jerry Bergonzi, and Ran Blake. Through these influences, Will has developed a unique sound that reaches the furthest extremes of each musical parameter without sacrificing musicality and expression. Drawing from many improvised and composed styles as well as contemporary extended techniques, Will weaves a vivid story that transports listeners to a world outside our own—one that can be reached only with the flute.
